Electronic Arts has dropped a ton of news in the last two days. We have already reported on plans for an enhanced PC version of Mass Effect, a concrete release date for the highly-anticipated Spore, confirmation of Command & Conquer 3, and even an admission of guilt for the destruction of Westwood Studios and Bullfrog Productions by EA's CEO.

EA has released a score more news via their financial website which for starters has Mass Effect extended from a trilogy into "a franchise for a very long time." Next up is news that the Need for Speed franchise will be returning to its roots, dropping the tuner aspects and closed course racing. The upcoming new installment will return to an open-track system and add a new highway battle mode. Also receiving new installments will be the obvious The Sims franchise, and the less obvious Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Lord of the Rings franchises.

Last but not least is that the NFL, EA and associated parties have agreed to extend EA's exclusive rights to the most premier football league in the world. The original agreement has been extended till the end of the 2012 season, culminating in Super Bowl XLVII.
