Trade/Refinery Ships...

What's the IQ required to pilot one of these things??

Anyway to control them or stop them from constantly going THROUGH the pirate base? They seem to take the shortest possible path to wherever they're going and damn the torpedoes.

Also... when the trade port or refinery builds another one does the new ship cost anything?

I think trade ships are free, but losing them would just lower your income by the fact that you're missing some.

It would be cool if you could make certain phaselanes and or systems unavailable to your merchant ships. OR build merchant cruisers and escorts that fight back when they get hit.

As for currently. If it's a well established Pirate base (I've seen one get to over 200 frigates in the pirate base system) then it's "HAMMER TIME"

(Bring the Novalith cannon to bear...) After you wipe out the actual base, the pirate base area won't build new ships or send new raids, so you can grind it down over several raids if it's too large a fleet to take down all at once.

Yeah, the pirates are pretty evil about that. I had two trading posts on either side of the pirate base and it was a while before I could get in there and clean it up. Of course tons of trade ships went in, none came out. Once I did clean the place out I noticed that the pirates had build six guass guns that were all positioned to kill the traders as they went by. Bastards.
