Sure, they might be all "hoohah! Ain't our fault" now, but that's how it's always has been. It's a vicious cycle of PR in the consumerist world (as evidenced by the Gamespot problem, EA problem, and Lucasarts problem).

Eventually they have to get wise, do something else, distract or illusion, or just... die.

I don't think THQ will die though. The games are good. Just the marketers are morons.

I think I just got caught up in it. I installed the patch, all of a sudden I was stuck with a login screen and no way to simply start the game, so I went to the forums to find out what the deal was, and I got sucked into the madness. Yes, in many ways it was a waste of my time.

I have no idea if they ever came up with a good solution. I suspect not. You probably still have to disconnect your ethernet cable to force a DVD check. If you don't you're forced to login...just to play single player.

I'm posting because I'm trying to help this guy worrying about a pointless thread, which this isn't. The reason I'm responding to you is to let Vic know that this guy who's putting down his thread for NO REASON other than to call it pointless isn't being constructive, and shouldn't be posting if that's all he's going to say. So I have a reason. You don't. You're not being constructive. I at least try to be, despite the fact that you're not reading what I'm saying.
What I don't care about is whether or not you said it was a waste of time. Not about posting. So not only do you not read, you seem incapable of understanding. This has happened on two posts, and possibly a third. So don't try to kid yourself.

Now, just one thing. If you're going to respond to this post, please put in something else that might be relevant to the OP's question. My 2 cents on this is in defence of him, and that this isn't a pointless topic. My reason for this is that he gets a lot of opinions that he might not otherwise get, and to ask this does no harm. May I ask why you say this is pointless, then?
If we keep this to rational argument then we might get somewhere, because clearly neither of us is going to convince the other simply by telling each other he's lying to himself or otherwise.

Thank you. I don't see any point in it either. Just a quick note - this could all have been avoided if you'd explained your point of view to begin with... but that argument is over and done with. Thank you for being mature about it, at the very least.
