minint in asteriod belts

I just want to ask, how do i do mining in asteriod belts while it can not be colonized. Sorry for my spelling. Thanks

Use colony frigates to capture the existing metal extractors.

EDIT: To be precise, I've found neutral extractors in asteroid belts that I then captured and they provided income. Not sure if they are present in all asteroid belts since I'm pretty new to the game myself.

FYI, for Vasari their scouts are the one with the "capture extrator" ability.

Can the Progenitor Mothership capture neutral roids? Waited awhile last night and it didn't happen.

No. It's a separate ability.

As Carbon says, only Colony Frigates (or the Vasari Scout) are capable of capturing the neutral invincible extractors.

Amusingly, the extractors are also nice intel tools as they can't be destroyed, although any smart human player will probably try and capture them off you before moving fleets through that system. ;)
