Problem with Human Replacing AI in Multiplayer Savegame

Hi everybody. Here's the problem my friends and I have been having: 2 of us will start a game with some AIs. Then a 3rd player will want to join. We save and quit the game, and give the 3rd player the savegame file. We all then load the game, and the 3rd player simply replaces one of the AIs in the multiplayer lobby. The game is started and that player has control over the former AI's forces.

HOWEVER! It seems that the AI continues to play at the same time. So, for example, while player 3 orders a frigate to do something, it then suddenly is given another order and moves off. Player 3 can still order everything around, but other orders are simultaneously being given. We think that the AI, despite being replaced in the multiplayer lobby, continues to play the game.

So how do we actually REMOVE the AI so that the human can take over the forces????

Thanks!

Hmmm this bug is intriguing :O I shall have to use it for my own benefit :) Like autopilot for your civilization.

LOL, I didn't even know you could replace an AI player like that. That is kind of funny actually to have the AI countermanding your orders. "Attack that planet!". AI: "I don't think that's a good idea John."

Well, it was pretty funny, because the 2 of us were playing like normal, and the 3rd guy kept complaining that his units weren't following his orders. At first we thought he was crazy but (since we were LANing) we looked at his screen and saw that his units were carrying out raids on their own! Who would have thought....

I'd call this a big bug!

But has no one else ever tried to replace an AI with a human!???

My friends and I have tried this in a game before as well and the same thing happened. It would open up a lot of nice multi-player options if they're able to fix it.

My hypothesis is that you cannot effectively replace an A.I. player with a human player once the game has started : that feature might appear in a future patch.

The "bug", then, would not be that the A.I. is interfering with the Human, but rather, that the Human, upon game reload, could apparently take the place of an A.I. when it cannot effectively be possible.

Consequently, if my hypothesis is correct, your 3rd player (the Human who wanted to bump the A.I.) never was in the game, as an effective player : he just happened to superficially piggyback on the legit player, the A.I. The game reload possibility of tolerating such a superficial, ineffective ride would then be the bug.
