How to: Increase the size of the Research area?

Any way to increase the blocks area, where the research icons are placed?
Is it scrollable?
Can new research tiers be placed on it?

If you are capable of modding, or even have the will to get into it, just give it a go yourself and see what happens

Its all numerical values, so I would imagine that you could have more that 8 tiers, and possibly more than 3 categories for each section. I'm also quite sure that you can have more than the 4 sections too. But a simple play around should be able to reveal all those answers to you.

I must admit, I was a little disappointed by the relatively small research tree in Sins of a Solar Empire - it's more a lean towards tech-trees in RTS than 4X games; take the MASSIVE tech-tree of Galactic Civilizations II, for example. I was looking forward to something more like that. So I think a tech-tree extension mod is a brilliant idea.
