Senate bug?

It is far too easy to maintain control of your senate by simply lowering the tax rate the month before the vote and getting over 50% approval. The rest of the time you can be gouging the people, but they seem to have no memory. Is this not a bug? It should take longer to change the approval percentage. Are there other downsides to excessive taxation that I have missed?

I don't think it's a bug, because it has a well-implemented balancing feature. If you do that, even for one month, your people will start to enjoy the lower tax rate. As a result, you won't be able to raise it quite as high as it was before the election and keep the same morale rating. Do that for several elections in a row, and you'll find your tax income decreasing dramatically.

This I learned the hard way. :(

Ummm stupid question, but i never get informed the month before an election. They are totally suprising to me when they pop up. Am i missing something here? How do you know when to knock your tax down?

Nirvana CN:

If you look at the picture of your senate, it says below the number of months (turns) until the next election.

You don't get warning, but you can plan for it if you like.

Asharak,

Yes, I learned this finally too... a little feature that should have been documented. :) Pretty darn cool!
