GalCiv versus Europa Universalis II

I've been interested in GalCiv for a while, but I had a bad experience with my last strategy game Europa Universalis II. :sniff!: I could not figure out how to use the interface in EUII. How do the learning curves of the two games compare?

They are extremely different games. How you handled EUII will have almost no reflection on your ability to handle GalCiv. Have you played the older Master of Orion games, or the Civilization series? Those are much more indicative of the style of gameplay to expect than EU.

Yeah, totally different games. I found EUII to be way unbalanced in its gameplay design. I find GC to be a potential truly classic *game* with that simplicity vs. depth thing in a constant state of flux.

Interesting...I found the EUII interface to be one of the most well organized interfaces for a strategic game I've seen. It wasn't "intuitive" in the sense of being the same way everyone else did it so you knew it right off, but once I figured out where things were it made alot of sense.

The only part I didn't like was the lack of hyperlinks from the log book to the actual province.
