Need help.I'm to stupid.

Hi folks.

Need some beginners guide or something.
Normaly i have no problems with this type of games, but even on beginners difficulty level i don't stand a chance in every aspect.

Not in trade, economics, research. Nowhere..i got overthrown every time.

And the morale..i've done anything..relocating people, lowering taxes, building moral-increasing installations, propaganda..none of this seems do work efficiently. Every time i got moral below 50%.

Hope someone have an idea..if not, i will discontinue, and hope there will be another 4x game in the future.

well i usualy keep my moral just over 55% and i think its good enuff remeber if your morals at say 12 pecent and and you get a bonus that say brings in up 20% it will only go up 20 of 12 so you have to avoid making it that low try keeping defenders in orbit and dont settle planets with less than 17 just in case and dont dumb like 500 million on it eather say near like a few million like 2-4 thats what i do and once the planets more stanble for moral send more over eventualy this is more exspensive in early game but its better than losing worlds to the L.O.A.W. or to another race it works for me well enough but then again i'm not out to take the whole galaxy like that eather i have a few(4-5) way built up systems with great econimy and the outer systems witch last game i had 14 they are just over the minime as far as population goes i only use them for things such as making my range go ferther and to basicly keep the aliens from having them.

You're going to have to provide more details than that emperor. Many people here have won several games and against much higher difficulty. I won the third game I played...all on normal difficulty and am currently winning (for now) one on Challenging.

What seems to be giving you problems?

Throw us a bone, GrandEmperor. "Explain how to win" is a bit too broad a question to ask this forum... give us something specific that we can answer in something less than the length of the manual, and we'll be glad to help. :)

It helps to stop and think about your strategy before even booting up the game.
For instance do I want to conquer with trade or military. If military what do i want to research in the early game since expansion is still very important in the early game. And when do I want to start cranking out transports. Do I want to not make evil choices, maybe stay neutral, until mid game so they don't gang up on me. Choose your path, then step into it. :)

Okay...

I try to keep up in technology and thought about a military way to win.

But it seems i can't find a balance for spending the resources to military, social and research.

I don't build military ships in the first place.

I try to divide most of the economic power between research and social projects.

But soon i have to read that other cultures are for more advanced in technology and economical.

The first game i tried with sub-normal level for the AI. I spend 6 attribute points for research and 1 point for trade, growth and defense.(i think)

So i tried to gather as much as good planets for col. and tried to get up with research and social projects.

But always i got problems with moral. and i can't see sense in it..i do EVERYTHING i could to make the stupid masses happy..but its of now use. After the first hour the morale is below 50% on EVERY planet und i wasn't able to catch up with research.

So..i hope it was precise enough.

thanx.

Hm, sounds like you have the wrong strategy for the start game.
The first thing to do when starting a game, above all else, is grabbing planets and resources. Thus, at first, your spending should be 100% military.

Once you have grabben *all* stars available to you (which can take a while), you should set the sliders to 100% social, and build up the planets (improve the environment).

Once the majority of the planets is converted, step 3: Up research to 100% and work your way up to trade. Establish trade routes with all the pretty aliens.

This should give you a solid foundation.
Read the "GC Strategies" forum for more info.

I hereby declare you Semi-GrandEmperor until you show up in the Metaverse ;)

I've got similar problems on normal, now I'm back at Beginner, and doing such and so - but I've got the same problem really: If I rush build, I go bankrupt some turns later. If I don't the AI grabs the best planets. If I buy two colonization ships and build the others, which seems to be what the AI does, this works fine, until after Turn 80 (or something) it's influence grabs most of my sectors, where I'm hardly building soil enchantment. On beginner it's easier, but I don't think it's a problem with the intelligence level of the AI, but with the one of me. ;) (thus said, I think my strategy needs an improvement.)

starbases. you can't have enough of those things. triple them up in your safest sectors to boost production and trade route cash. after you have a decent defense you should be able to crank out constructors from your planets.
