I had the same problem it was because my video card was not good enough on the monitor I was using. When I switched my primary monitor to the one with a better video card it fixed it.

Sarcasto, what operating system are you running, and what kind of video card are you using? Do you have the latest version of DirectX, DirectX 9.0b?

You may also want to run dxdiag and run the Direct3D tests to make sure that you don't have any errors there.

I am also having this problem. More detail:

The first time I tried to use the editor, it locked up my computer. After a reboot, I got an error message about the video driver having a problem. I restarted again and everything came up fine. I tried to run the editor again and the system again locked up. After rebooting, there was no error message. I've tried re-installing both GalCiv and the Expansion. Any time I try to run the editor, the system locks up and I have to hit the reboot button. Since the map editor was my main reason for purchasing the expansion, I am VERY dissappointed in the product.

I am running XP Home Edition with an ATI Radon 9000 video card. It is connected to a Sony flatpannel running at 1280x1024 at 75Hz.

If this is a known Video issue, it should be noted with the Expansion!

We have a new build ready that should fix people's problems. I need to do a few more things before we put up an update, though.

Thanks for the response. I did check, and all of the DX parts are enabled and tested good on the system listed above. I was able to get an error message again after rebooting, so I took a screenshot of it just in case I needed it.

I will be looking for the update. Thanks.
