is there a 'top ten' or 'must have' mod list or recommendations that don't bugger ya score that a lazy boy like me can look at?

The Omega Pack is good and has yet to screw my score. It has a couple of new politcal parties and lots of new techs, SB modules and Trade goods.

Also the Capitals (Cultural, Religous) made by the late Renegade are quite good.

Who is spreading this rumor? I use both and have no ID conflicts! But one between a G/E SBmod (Dark Lords Throne room) and the Diplomats relay chanal (comes with the Diplomats Embassy)

I'll say Nidaros Events, the G/E Pack and the Capitals are good stuff.
*shameless self promotion* Halut Pack and Omega Pack offer great expansion too (total 189 new components ;) )

Sure. but if you download the 2 mods from the library without having Galciv Writer, you will found that there seems to be conflict between the Id used in Nidaros pack and the one use in Omega pack: as an example Galactic Taxi Service has the Id 30 as the Portable Crystal Computer.

Specifically the conflict is between the Galactic Taxi Service and Portable Crystal Computer at ID 30, like PP said, but that's the GoodEvil pack (oh, is that the same thing as Nidaros?).

That aside the Omega Pack renders a lot of other stuff in GalCiv obsolete with slightly overpowered ships - the interceptor with an attack of 10, for example, before the corvette (at least I think it was before the corvette? maybe i found it at an asteroid or something..) or the patrol ship with propulsion theory with a speed of five...

Mainly, I want my galactic taxi service back! hee.

Well the Interceptor is supposed to be able to take out strong ships (I may have added it too early) and the Patrol should a Scout and they are supposed to be fast
