Help..!! Having problems updating GV to Altarian P

Hi Chaps.
Got a slight problem with updating Galciv to Altarian Prophecy. I live in the UK and purchased my copy of GalCiv from the shops, however I ordered the CD (Altarian ) from StarDock USA. On loading it ask`s me for my Serial Number, which I took to be my cd key ( the only number I know on my copy I purchased )and it will not let me install....!!!!!
Am I doing something silly ??
Help..... dying to play this.... any Ideas (:(

I believe you should have a new Altarian prophecy serial number. That's the number you need to use. I assume it was sent with your CD or else email to you?

You should have resived a AP Key. (propably E-mail-wise) enter that one. You also change your kry on this side, otherwise, you won't be able to submit games (if you want to)

I thought Startide Rising and The Postman by David Brin were both very original, Starship Troopers and Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein were unashamedly brash satire, and Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and 1984 by George Orwell set the standard for political dystopia.

iCapn, I agree with your assessment of Brin's novels, but the film of The Postman was abysmal. If there was a little smiley icon vomiting I'd use it here.

:) we used to have one but T-man took it off the website because I griped about it so much.  (mainly because it was overused)

Reid: we were having trouble with the mailserver, so support got really backed up.

On SDC, there's an option to have it e-mail you your serial number.  Choose Tools->Lookup Serial number.

I also mentioned you to support, so our lead support tech will check out your account to make sure that everything is fine.

Be careful about Brin. The first 3 of the Uplift series are really good, but it rapidly goes downhill from there. Some of my favorites from the 60s and 70s are Roger Zelazny (particularly Lord of Light) and John Brunner (Stand on Zanzibar, The Sheep Look Up), and Frank Herbert (Dune, but there again the series goes downhill as it goes on).

CJ Cherryh is pretty good, too. She can write some awesome aliens. She does both SF and fantasy, and at her best is fantastic, but has some where it sounds like she's paid by the word. If you want specific recommendations let me know. BTW, her real name is Cherry, she added the H to the end of her name when her agent told her no one would believe an SF author name Cherry.

I could go on, but this whole thing is a digression and I don't know how people around here feel about thread drift. ;)
