Cannot update GalCiv to 1.20.087

I can't update from 1.20.086 to 1.20.087. Stardock keeps telling me that it failed to validate my registration information or something like that. Tells me to check my serial number, which I do, and I still get the same thing. I did not by this game from the site - got a shrink rapped version - CD. Can I just not update the CD version or something?

I love this game - probably one of my all time favorites. But I have some problems - crashes occasionally in the Huge universe.. It's real annoying when I am in the middle of a game, haven't saved (because the autosave takes forever), and then the game just exits abruptly... I'm hoping that this patch can fix that. Even if it can't - why can't I update to the latest version? Why doesn't Stardock accept my serial?

Ok, you can update with the CD version, that's how I got this game, much to my dismay, now I wish I had just gotten the Drengin perscription to begin with. I have Drengin.Net now, I recommend it as a must. I honestly don't remember when you can upgrade with a non-Drengin subscription. Been too long. But that gives you unlimited updates, and access to the sequal, Altarian Prophecy.

As for the crashes, and you say you have 1.20.086? I remember that as being pretty stable. What does you computer capability stand as?

I updated StarDock as suggested and still can't get an update - same message appears all the time - "Failed to validate your Galactic Civilizations registration information. Please verify that you have entered your email address and serial number correctly." Something like that.

Also noticed that a beta 1.21 exists, can't update to that either.

Is there something at your end maybe that isn't correct? I'm assuming it does some sort of validation checking online, and maybe that isn't valid or something? I've been dealing with this for weeks, and it is really annoying.

Help!

By the way - I went into the screen under StarDock Central to update my registration information - Register Products when I right click on Galactic Civilizations. I go to Galactic Civilizations, it displays the serial number on my game (which is correct), and then click Register. I states that the email address does not match the one in your records... What gives? I'm the only owner of this CD. I bought it unopened too, but not directly from you.

Please help me out.

I double checked. I only have one email address that I really use. I tried a couple of others, which I'm sure I didn't use, and the same thing happens..

Need help here.

Thanks,

Chris

I wish I could help, but you will likely have to wait for Monday or Tuesday for Cari to get back. I really don't know how to help. Sorry, I wish I could do more.

Have you looked at "my account" - a button on the side of this forum. There it will list an email account which should be the one you use.

Thanks for the help everyone - I really appreciate it.

Unfortunately, the information under "My Account" is accurate. I also tried registering GalCiv again through StarDock and it tells me that the email address that I entered does not match the records. There isn't a way to lookup the serial number and report the email address it is attached to is there? Maybe I somehow registered it incorrectly, or somehow a duplicate serial number was created? Don't see how either of those could've occurred, but anything can happen.

By the way - I have not purchased a Drengin.net subscription. That doesn't matter - does it?

Oh, and also, someone asked earlier about the specs of my system I think - AMD Athlon64, 512MB RAM, Win XP, ATI Mobility Radeon 9600. Great laptop! Kicks the butt of all of the desktops I've used.

Sorry, had jury duty so I was gone all last week.

If you tell SDC to lookup your serial information, does it send you an e-mail with your serial number(s)?

You're probably going to have to e-mail support about this, and include your login.txt file from the folder where Stardock Central is installed.
