Gal Civ 1.21 and Altarian Prophecy 1.51

http://www.galciv.com/index.asp?action=full&NewsID=497

The version history for Gal Civ 1.21 probably doesn't include everything.  Rather than sorting through and trying to figure out what was fixed in Altarian Prophecy first, I decided that it would be better to get it up there on the server for you guys. :)

I don't think that stability will be an issue with these betas, but since a lot has changed, I wanted to make sure that everything works on different systems before making it public.

The changes to the save games were made to make cheating harder.  We are still presently allowing modded games to be submitted to the metaverse, but we may disallow it or add more caps in the future.

Please let me know what you think about the difficulty of the campaign missions at various levels of difficulty.  The feedback will be most useful if you aren't using mods.  We also didn't get a lot of feedback on the custom maps and scenarios that aren't associated with the campaign.

It probably doesn't make a lot of difference, but if you need to post a bug report, please report whether your using Gal Civ or Altarian Prophecy.

There's something weird occurring with the custom maps and the submission process. Back on June 26th I played the small balanced map with normal rules. At the time it submitted with no problem but nothing showed up in the map portion of the game record. Tonight I submitted two games that I had stored because a new update occurred anf I didn't want save game issues. Anyway I always double check my record to see that everything submitted correctly. The scores are OK but now the games that were normal games show up like they were played on various custom maps.

OK, I click on the link posted at the top by Carielf and get an error about it not being available - where do I find out what's changed?

Not that it matters much as Stardock Central won't even launch anymore - tries to do an auto-update and fails, closing down again. Anyone know how I can disable the auto-update?

Mag. Try this:-

go to the location where stardock is installed on your machine. (normaly C:/program files/stardock/sd central) Then d.click restore. This should take it back to the old status. Then run SDC, say no to updates, and open 'Tools/settings' you will find the auto update feature in there. You can disable it if you wish.

Update: I submitted a game with 1.51 and it submits proper info into player record. Only my 1.50 game records have improper map entries. Since the scores are correct I suppose it is academic about the map info.

So far other than the continuing problems with the United Planets menu, everything seemed to work great. I seemed to get more random events but with only a 1 game sample it might have been a coincidence.

Thanks DW, that worked. Didn't know about that "restore" method - very useful. :)

Sorry, if this has been addressed but SD is telling me (since last night's update of GC and AP) that I need to update the multimedia *again*. Say it ain't so...

The window with the "tombstone" that used to appear when all the minors were eliminated no longer appears. Also the message that you have reached your trade route limit doesn't show up either.

I have only had this happen at one starbase, but some of the modules that were already upgraded, show as NOT being upgraded. When you click (as I did accidently) on them it (of course) rejects your construtor and you have to back off to upgrade on a module that hasn't been used yet.

On a different note, my MetaVerse score is still doing weird things (I have mentioned this before). Due to recent submissions and checks of the scores, I don't think it is due entirely to scores going down due to time. I would like a slightly better explantion if at all possible.

I have played 190 total games but it shows 191. Last game when it should have been 189, it showed 188. Also my TOTAL score is going down still. In the last 3 games I submitted it went from a (previously and a month before) 117779 to 101660, then to 102478 and now it shows 100916 (last two game were submitted in July).
My Total score the Tiny map board has acted about the same, but the number of games has stayed correct. The Scores ranged from 98099 in May down to 86821 in June, and the the July scores were 87546 and the one today was 85142.
On the Small map, I have played 50 games (the last one in December, 03) and my Total score was 56023 and it has stay there until I checked it on June 28, when it went down to 55436! Then when I checked it in July, it had gone back up to 56023!!!!!!!
That indicates something weird going on to me!

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have noticed that with AP v1.50 when the sound FX and music are turned off there is still sound effects when you are in the diplomatic screens with the AI.

I did not know that there was a v1.51 until a few minutes ago. I will upgrade my game and report if this bug still exists.

I have tried to play Altarian Prophecy and it doesn't work. Gal Civ worked however when I tried to start AP and goes to a black screen then ends and goes back to Stardock. I don't look at the forum so please email [email protected]
The Mapediters and everything else works just AP.

The same for me, I tried a game and went to the blank screen and out of the game. All the editors work fine.

Argh, the "disapearing anomalities on reload"-bug is still there. I was playing the AP campaign and had my survey-ship sittin next to two anomalities, an "unexplained" and some "space-junk". Upon reload the "unexplained" was gone.

Oh and another thing, the colors on the minimap are off. One of my ships is Altarian-blue and not white (ought to be dark blue as my planets and bases). I have seen other color mess-ups.

I play 1.51

AP Mission 6 "Unsuspecting Allies" -
Typo in Description : "lack of a batter term" should be better, not batter.

Also the victory text after culture victory not displayed maybe just a freak occurance? Who knows. I'll see if I can get it to not show again some time (though I really had a hard time with that mission so I might just see if the end save works, maybe use a later save and try to win through conquest).

Also from the "Torian Vengeance" mission : 'Drath were using to control the Drath'

Perhaps a quick look through the mission texts is an idea?

Hope it helps,
Sty

Sry this post is a duplicate posts (using the website it told it had errored obviously it didn't).

This is annoying as stardock central crashes every time the discussion text is updated, making it stardock central nigh impossible to use... dont try and tell me how I can fix it... it never works (can't wait for stardock central 2).

The only thing I've noticed so far is that my survey ship forgets how to automatically survey after a while. It will be sitting right next to an anomoly and will ignore requests to auto survey. I have no idea what triggers it to forget because it does work for quite a while.

I am extremely happy that the disappearing ship thingie seems to have gone away. :) (maybe it went away a while ago, but I haven't played for ages)

Please fix this bug. It has been around since v1.20. I use my survey shipt to scout out the AI then I like to have it automatically survey and collect.

Just notced a save-game isue. I just played through the first mission in the campaign, and desided to play a few turns of a non-campaign game (AP) then when I wanted to save the game a few turns later I noticed that the victory condition said "Special" when clicking the explain-button, I got a blank campaign victory condition box. My guess is that the game loadin mechanism, does not check for campaign/non-campaign games.

When I played the campaign I did not win on the first try (I loaded a partially completed mission where the Altarans had conqured one of the three objective-wolds) After I conqured the last Knox world the game progressed to the next turn, so I tried reloading the turn before and try again, this time I won the mission.

The turns to complete numbers displayed are not correct. An excample: if a planet is producing Soil Enhancement costing 50 and the planet has a social production of 10, the turns to complete number shows 5 not 4 as it should. This is the same as has been the case in all builds I have tried. But it's stil very anoying, as I'll have to check each planet to make sure I do not miss the completion with one or two production-units.

And the planet list is a bit sluggish on updating the numbers. An update can be forced by clicking the "display planet list"-button.

This is not a display error. It really does take 5+1 turns. Building isn't completed until the turn after the total cost is expended. Whether it should take 6 turns or not is a different question.
