Debugging Crashes

If you haven't installed SmartException, please save and run the exe found at the following link:

http://www.stardock.com/temp/sx-odinst.exe

This generates a log file when Gal Civ or other Stardock apps that support SmartException crashes, that will give us information useful in fixing crash bugs.

You can e-mail the log file to [email protected] along with a saved game file if you have one right before the crash happened. A short but detailed description of what was happening right before the crash is also useful.

For bugs that don't involve crashes, screenshots to go along with your bug reports can be very helpful, and saved games.

If you don't want to risk wrecking your saved game, but you want Stardock to check out something weird, copy your Saved Game files in another folder before saving the buggy game.

I too have been getting crashes every so often when I click on the turn button.

I D/L Smart Exception, and it comes up after a crash, but I can't find any info to send to you.

When I click submit exception report it's blank except for:

"Submit exception information and additional details [BETA VERSION OF DOCUMENT - NO CONTENTS]"

Is this where the info should be, or am I missing something?

Jack, if you read this thread, can you help Bob? It's been a long time since I've had one pop up because it doesn't pop up when I run out of the debugger. I know that it generates a .log file somewhere...

Bob, just click on the "Open log Directory" in SmartException interface, get your appropriate file log (GC.exe.cra, Drengin.exe.cra, etc...) and mail it :)
