Making Money

Hello All,

I've tried several games and I'm coming up with the same problem over and over again. About 1/2 way through the game my planets start spending more money then they are making in revenue. My approval rating is in the toilet, so I can't really tax, I can't figure out why most of my planets are spending more money then they are making.

Can anyone give me some advise on this problem I'm having.

THanks

Shaun

limit the social improvements you build to only be when necessary. dont set your tax rate too high or you'll actually collect less taxes. TRADE is essential!!! it's really hard to make bank in this game without it. trade things in exchange for cash to other civs

You didn't say, but it sounds like your treasury went negative. When that happens the morale of your planets starts sliding. If it drops below -$500BC morale falls like a rock. Watch your net income like a hawk. Don't let your treasury go below $100BC at the beginning of a game, and keep more in researve as the game progresses. Trade with the minor races as much as you can for cash (but keep the techs and trade goods that improve diplomacy to yourself). Trade the trade goods for cash to the major races as well (still keeping the diplomacy improving ones to yourself). Find a race that is at war with another race and trace attack ships to them for cash. When trading for cash try for a good deal that gives you a return for several months.

There is more, but this is a good way to start.
