Invincible Ships Bug

Somehow the Torians are able to move Corvettes onto the grid-line intersections, instead of onto the actual map tiles themselves, making it impossible for me to attack them.
Let me see if I can explain this better: say you have 4 adjacent tiles arranged in a square. Number them row/column 1, 2 / A, B. You have a Ranger in 2B. It could attack a ship in any of the 3 adjacent tiles, 1A, 1B, or 2A. The Torians have a Corvette that looks kind of out-of-place, like it isn't squarely in any of the tiles, so you turn on the map grid.
Those sneaky Torians have placed their Corvette directly between the 4 squares, right at the intersection of the grid lines. You can move your Ranger to any other square, or even diagonally between 2B and 1A, but it always flies right past the 'vette, because the 'vette isn't in any of those tiles. Somehow, it's between them.
Next turn the 'vette moves into a map tile and attacks. Finally, when my turn comes up again I'm able to attack it.
This has happened on 2 separate missions of the "Altarian Prophecy" campaign.
Is this a bug, or is there some kind of "alternate dimension" technology that actually allows ships to be taken to Harry Potter's train station for a couple of turns?
