Game Crashes - Sound Blaster Live Sound Card

Is the Sound Blaster Live Value sound card prone to crashes.

I had a crash to desktop yesterday - wasn't even an error message. This has only happened once or twice.

Thanks

I run a SB Live card on my system. I've never had a problem with this card. I even had to go back to using it after upgrading to a 5.1 card that was causing DirectX to have problems. :)

Hmm! I just bought this game AND a SBlive 5.1 digital. Whenever I run the game it gets through the Strategy First spash screen but crashes on the Stardock one. There is a high pitched whining sound and the computer is frozen. I have tried this dozens of times now. I havent even seen the game itself yet. Turning off sound in the ini file doesnt help one bit :(

A suggestion is to get updated drivers. You may have bought a new card that has sat on the shelf somewhere for a while. Also you can check your Direct X setup (Diagx I think) at the Run command.

I've got a Dell Dim 4400 with a SB Live Value (that Dell would put a "Value" in the sort of system I bought still rankles me) and have no CTD sound problems.

I put the game patch on and now it seems to work ok. It occasionally crashes on the intro screens but I just skip them now to be on the safe side :D

Hi! I have a Creative Soundblaster 5.1 Platinum 128 and I need no less than 6 patches to get it to run things properly (Do a fair bit of Sound Forge and Logic Audio). . . Thankfully the Audigy series and beyond are a little better, or so I've heard.
