Latest Star Control and Imperium Galactica games - Your impressions ?

The title is self explanatory. While Galactic Civilizations rules there are few other games os some interest. Did any of you play the latest Star Control and Pax Imperia ( di I get the name right ? ) games ? I can;t find them in stores ( or for download ).

Does anyone still play Alpha Centauri ?

Star Control 3 was kinda weak. The ships weren't as cool, the 3D galaxy kind of confusing, and they actually lynched huge chunks of dialogue straight out of Star Con 2.

Never got around to playing the full version of Pax 2 but the combat looked really lame. Real time 2D in spave. :P It did have some promising other features though. Apparently you could do all kinds of cool things with spies and whatnot.

Pax2 was fun. I still like to play it, but galciv has been taking up more time. StarCon3 sucked - SC2 was WAY better.

I liked Star Control 3. :p

Pax Imperia 2 was okay. what I didnt like that everything started with a rush over the good planets. then you couldnt protect your officers/governors or whatever they were called.

Imperium Galactica 1 was great imo. an evolving story, nice graphics and gameplay for its time. GI2 wasnt as fun even tho the gfx were better. There was a demo of Gi3 out months ago, didnt hear anything about the actual game tho.

I used to play alpha centuri but Star Control 2 is one of my favorite games of all time , still have it for 3d0.

I envy you jab2565 (for still having a 3D0, great system). Star Control 2 is an awesome game. I love it so much (I had it on 3D0 too) that I found a free download for pc for it. A legal one. LOL I'll look again and post a link. And Alpha Centauri is still one of the best games of all time, I have Alien Crossfire too. :D Awesome!........But nothing compared to Gal Civ of course ;)

I LOVE Alpha Centauri and I still play it from time to time. LOL I always liked the interplay among the various factions and how their ideologies affected to some extent their abilities to do certain things and their relationships with other factions. There was also a kind of immersive quality to the game that I couldn't get enough of..the voice clips that are played when new technologies are researched and when certain structures are built being the big example I can think of right offhand. For me it felt like I was actually a part of an evolving and progressing society. Truly a classic game. :HOT:

I've played Imperium Galactica 1 and 2 and enjoyed both, and also liked Pax Imperia 1.

IG 3 is still under development but is now onto its 3rd name, Nexus - The Jupiter Incident, and is no longer being developed by the IG 1/2 people. The screenshots I've seen look very impressive.
