Good/Evil

Greet's All...

I was wondering if anyone can tell me the benfits and disadvatages of Good or Evil. It seems to me that most the Events give a bonus to Evil. I understand being Evil hurts you in Diplomacy, but does it hurt you anywhere else? Are there any Events that if you do a Good deed you are rewarded?

I believe all of them currently have a downside (or at least no upside) for Good. Diplomacy seems to be the only real problem (though if you're an evil race, the good races will apparently sometimes band against you out of altruism).

Right now, I'm not clear that alignment has any big impact on the game.

I think it works like this: Good civs are liked by other good civs, hence better relations with them. Evil civs dont give a damn about other Evil civs, and good civs hate them.

So the basic philophy is that "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished"? Why punish for choosing the "Good" selection when there is no or very little benifits to do so?

The question has come up before.

Basic answer is that being good isn't about the benefits. It's about doing what is right, regardless of the negative aspects.

If it doesn't hurt, it isn't getting better; that kind of thing.

There are also certain technologies that only the good can get, as I understand it. But I'm not sure which ones.

IIRC one of the Good techs gives +10% planet quality. Basically evil is a fast way to power (rewards now) and good is a slow way to power (rewards later).
