Survey Ships and other tidbits

I had a quick question, hopefully, on survey ships. Can they currently be used to explore individuals planets in star systems or is this aspect planned for a future build? I remember an early screen shot showing the exploration of ruins on a planet with several options.

Hopefully later there will be an events log that will display actions that took place within scan range of my planets/ships. I hear the sounds of battle but currently I have to scroll all over the map to see what happened and normally all I see is something exploding. It would be nice to know what happened, i.e. my defense ships is XX system destroyed an Altarian battlecruiser.

Also is there a way to get scanning reports or a list of all alien objects, ships or planets that are currently in my scanning range.

Hehe, now that I'm on a roll, a list of known planets would be nice. That way I can make sure I don't ignore any 20 value worlds that I found 32 turns ago.

Couple suggestions for scrollable lists.
F1 scrolls forward thru owned systems.
F2 scrolls backward thru owned systems.
F3 and F4 will scroll thru owned fleets/ships.
F5 and F6 will scroll thru seen objects (enemy ships/planets within scan range)

Also when I send a newly built ship out from a system the turn automatically advances, is this suppossed to happen? Currently, I wait until I move all my other ships now before I launch a new ship.

The early screen shot that you remember is actually of a random Event, which occur from time to time based on your actions. As of right now, the Survey Ships are purly a mean for searching anomalys, but eventually they will be used to discover resourses in low level planets, which may actually spark an event if need-be.

As for the battles that rage in the game, eventually the results of war will come up on the News Screen or as an dialog window. "As war between the Terrans and the Drengins raged through Sector 2-4 last month, many of our own fleetmembers have fought their last. The list includes -blah blah blah-" or something like that, with a list of the ships destroyed and the number of troops on the ships. Were also going to include smart window centering, where the window will center to this ship that just got destroyed.

I like the idea of a known planets list, though I personally just cycle through the systems in the planet research screen to see any gems that I may have missed. Also, quick keys are something that are on our current list, though not at the top. Your suggestions have been noted, though. :)

The "ship out of orbit causing the turn to advance" things seems like a bug. I'll talk with Cari and Brad about that at the meeting today!

If you are going to use function keys (f1-f12) for accelerator keys, don't forget that the most common use
of F1 is for the "help" function. This is so prevelent that it is almost a defacto standard.
