Desired Feature: Post-game "replay"

This is one of my favourite features in Civilization I and III (I was fumed when they took it out of II). It gives a real coherency and sense accomplishment when you watch all the events that unfolded after the game is over (plus you get to see that life wasn't always that easy for the AIs).
How about it guys (sleep is highly overrated)?

Ooooh, oooooh, second that! I'd *love* to see my influence spread (and possibly wane) on the galaxy map again!

Would also be nice if there'd be a text window to the right of it, listing major events as they occur on the map.

a log of the events as well the greatest moments(begining/end of war, major trade deal, aid fromone civ in support of a war, planet rebellions, etc) would be cool

Maybe this could be something for a bonuspack as I would love to see such a feature too!

Oh god, please don't start bumping threads for no reason. It's hard enough finding all the news posts without refreshing a thread only to see a lame bump post. >:(

Post this in the suggestions thread if you want it to stay seen. I think it would be a great idea. It not only is fun to watch, but for people like me (who often have 3 or 4 games going at once), it is helpful to go replay parts of the game to see what I was doing.. help jar my memory on my strategy for that game.

Bump. Maybe just a text file that is created as you play would be fun to have.

Not a bump, but an observation..

Isn't there already an "epic storyteller" thingy halfway done in the game, only waiting for Brad to finish it? I could swear I'd seen something along these lines out there somewhere.. I'd love that!

I'm unsure. I thought it was dropped completely. I guess I bumped this thread to see if an official response was forthcoming eventually here or not. The SOTRY aspect to this game is a lot of its appeal to me.

I dont think id be that difficult (time intensive though) to get in a post-game report...something along the lines of:

2254: War declared on the Evil Drengin Empire.
2255: Torian's, alllies of the Drengin Empire, joined their fight agains us.
2259: Torian troops successfully invade Sol.
2259: Humanity completely wiped out of existance.

It'd be a useful tool for making AAR's, but not as drasticly complet as the "Epic Generator". Thoughts?

I'll pay another $10 bucks for an Epic Generator AND a rapid visual replay. Either alone would be rather weak. But together we would have an enormously gratifying experience for our hard fought efforts.

I wouldn't mind seeing a turn by turn, text listing of a game.
If you wanted to make it really fancy, screenshots could be appended at certain times during the game, too.

Boogiepac:

Yeah! If you have the inclination, go for it! Include who developed what tech first, and stuff like that. If it includes numbers and such I could then for myself write a program to go through it get numbers and make graphs and such too.

I dunno, I'm just blabbing here in my excitement. I'd LOVE to see this idea play out!
