Just won my first game of Gal Civ

Hi All,

I picked up GalCiv yesterday and immediately became addicted to it. After spending all night playing I've finally won my first game. The AI was set to cakewalk, (even though for me it wasn't a cakewalk) and I achieved a cultural victory.

My final score was 3004. Now to work on my second victory *smiles* if I keep playing I may not have a life left. ;p

Glad to see more people still starting to play.

Don't forget to join an empire. It makes things a lot more fun because you get more of a community interaction. And don't forget to submit your score to compete!

But its highly recomended not to rip your A%# off to get on Masochistic level, coz once you get here there is no going back, ad games could then look like they've been all manufactored! ;)

So take your time just climb steady! Go with the pace!

Thanks all for the congrats, it felt really good to finaly win a game. I've been lurking within the strat forums inbetween playing games. I've registered my player with Metaverse and I'm on the board. I fully intend to join an Empire once I've figured out what my favorite playing style is and what Empire would best match it.

Thanks for the advice Attila thats what I planned on doing. I wanted to beat the game on all victory modes in each difficulty level before moving up to the next difficulty level. That way I get more of a feel of how the game works. Having said that I realise that not everyone plays that way and I have a great deal of respect for those who can beat the game on Masochistic, hopefully I'll be one of them some day.

Thanks for the Empire reccomandations. I just beat the game for a second time, this time I won a technologal victory.

I am going to try for a cultural victory next. Man do I love this game.

btw one of the coolest features IMO is that each type of victory has its own cut scene at the end of the game. I was blown away by the technology cutscene it was really cool.

Indeed, Beyond Human scene is the best, have to agree!! especially the part where human changes to those shiny dudes! :D Its been a while for me, can't quite remember what it was all like! Did they "humans" blasted away few ships?! :notsure:

Welcome Raven, I got alot of good info from the "Orion Sector" click http://www.orionsector.com/pages/galciv/

The Guardians (your chosen empire) have some excellent info also.

IMHO- The Research End movie is the best. You can play any of them by going to the "Movies" folder within the Gal Civ folder.

I have the Bink player installed so I just double-click on whatever movie file I wish to play. Let me know if you need the Bink link. (Bink link sounds funny)

Congradulations Raven-sb, keep up the good work and have fun!! By the way I just got on the metaverse to and I'm still working my way up the difficulty levels my self LOL . If you need any help with questions or anything, just post em'. I'll try to help if I can!! ;)
