While on the topic of Nokia poly ringtones and backrounds for free I thought it might be interesting to let you guys know that it's not only our computers that miscreants are trying to destroy with malicious virus' - It is our mobile phones as well.

I really dont understand the logic behind people who want to create malicious software and make me, and thousands of other beneficiaries of technology angry.

The First mobile phone virus has been detected.

Apparently it is transmitted through bluetooth, and the term "caribe" will appear on the backlight of your phone once infected.

Sure, this isn't so malicious, the group responsible for the 'virus' claim to propegate this software in the name of 'awareness'

Awareness for companies like Nokia and Ericsson to factor this into their phone production? hence raising the cost?

Or awareness for the punks to go ahead and see how much damage they can do... I bet Symantec, McAffee and VET have already jumped on the phone to the big telco's!!!

Either way, someone is making more money because of it...

Why didn't I think of it first? :P

I too am aware of mobile phone viruses and this is not new.
I study Multimedia and communication at Tipperary Institute and one of the topics was this new attack on mobiles.
The information I'm providing for free ringtones is safe as you provide the tones yourself and upload them to your webhost then download them via WAP. I also exploxed the option of creating your own tones and yes it's possible if your any way musical (I'm not) this could be a way to make some money by creating your own ringtones and offering them to others for a small fee.

Remember you must observe copyright when you are providing tones for profit but this is not my area and maybe somebody could look into this and respond.

I will be posting a webpage with details on how to use this system for downloading ringtones and images over the next week.
When this page is completed the address will be posted and a comment box provided for feedback or problems.

Hmm....viruses in everything.....people, animals, computers, now mobil phones. Soon we'll see viruses in toilets, refrigerators, and frightening enough cars....with all the electronic crap today, it's a hacker's paradise....(Okay...mabye toilets and refrigerators won't have viruses....unless they're connected to the internet so you can download skins on them...lol) And you're right...someone will profit off of this and the person/people that made it are probably getting off on it....
