Death by TerrorStar crash

In my latest game I put about 15 terrorstars next to Altarian starsystems. I then declared war and destroyed the 15 starsystems ;p . I then click turn and the game crashes. Damn, anyone else had this problem? I'd love to know how the AI reacts to my galactic mass murder. Suppose it's too shocked by my action?

Cari, Gal Civ programmer, is aware of the Terror Star crash problem. As a work-around you can save the game after all of your Terror Star attacks for a given turn. The game will then crash when you click the "Turn" button and then you reload the game from your save copy.

You should still be able to try this assuming that the autosave was not turned off on your game. Just go back to the last save, and try what Aww Nuts has said.

I get that problem all the time. I save after all of them attack and try not to push the turn button.. sometimes it works but once that happens I save constantly.

Also, you might try turning off explosions and see if it helps. I think it has something to do with the animations using up too many resources. I'm not sure of this, so if it works, please let us know.

Well, the ones that I found had to do with trade routes, which are supposed to be cancelled when the star is destroyed.  It seems that it doesn't always work.  Unfortunately, it's hard to reproduce what causes the trade routes to not cancel.  I can sit here for hours killing stars and trade routes and not have a problem running in the debugger.  Trying to re-writing the code without knowing why it fails in the first place would probably not be very effective.  So I haven't figured it out yet, and my first priority at the moment is the Gal Civ 2 engine, so I won't have a lot of time for major debugging for awhile.

On my computer the game was crashing a lot, but I wasn't tracking the events preceeding that. This was late in the game, with terror stars and all, but I'm not sure of the cause. Then I simply switched autosave OFF, and it never happened since.
