Korx and Drath starship designs

I was lining up all the starships available in the editor up by race and when I looked at the Korx and Drath ships, they looked very, very similar -- in fact, the overall construction of their ships appear identical. Only the shape of the ship is changed. Why is this?

Might it have something to do with the connection between the Drath and Korx storywise?

I never did the campaign so I can't comment on that. I would be leaning to ... design laziness.

I have noticed that one of those races has the same survey ship as the humans. Well I never sold it to them.

Overall I have to admit to being impressed with the general artwork though. From the portraits of the aliens to the event images etc. they all have an "oil painting" depth to them. Never really bothered about that sort of thing in my games before but definitely it was something that stood out in GalCiv.
