Technologies

I'd like a mod for certain techs (whichever make sense) to have a very small chance (like 2 percent) of going awry when researched. I.e., ya complete the research and instead of the expected working weapon or drive, it blows up the first planet that tries to create the newly available unit that is dependent on that tech - + ya don't get the tech and have to start over elsewhere if ya still want it. Such can be used to make new techs or to modify existing ones to make certain otherwise appealing techs - risky.
Since research isn't planet specific, perhaps the 'flaw' in the research shouldn't become appearant until the first unit using the tech is built, so it would have to be for techs that allow for new units, and that chooses which planet it happens on, and reveals the flaw to the tech owner in a dramatic way, and the need to go back to the drawing board. And if ya trade the flawed tech *before* using it or realizing its flawed, whoever got it from you will have an exploding planet on their hands too when they try to make a unit w/it too. hehe. They could even face a choice of warning you or not once they find out, letting you find out the hard way. hehe. Same if you trade for the tech from someone else who hasn't 'tested' it yet. A more crafty way of having someone else test the tech for ya. hehe
Also gives players an incentive to build the 'prototype' not on their nice planet w/a lot of production ability, but on a more fringe planet, taking longer and/or costing more, to avoid risking the loss of a nice planet.
