GC: Basic or Enhanced?

Okay, so I've got the latest version of GC:AP and I'm trying to understand the add on packs in the libraries. Are the add on packs (like the Omega pack) play tested? Is it sanctioned by Stardock or download at your own risk? Is there a standard add on pack that is generally believed to greatly enhance the game?

Or should I just play a dozen or so games with the basic set before considering adding anything?

Thanks for all help!

some mods are approved some aren't. there's a mods button on the left if you wanna investigate. there was some talk of doing a 'top ten' but i don't know if it's eventuated yet. the omega pack has a good rap. my poz would be to play the original game, get to know and love it, then enhance? up to you really....

Well mods are always on the users own risk.
The certified mods are alway ok and tested to work (I personally do not publish my mods untill they are proven to work propperly).
But not all combinationsare save, cause there are some "caps" in the game code and some mod combinations hit this caps.

In my opinion, you should play some games before adding mods, in some cases you'd need some experiances to use them "propperly"

eventuated

WTF????, you in the military or related to Dubya, what is wrong with plain English words liked "happened".

About mods, use them with care and until you know them well, use them sparingly - use too many and they can change the game in ways you may not want, especially if the PQ boost goes to 40% or more

Okay, thanks for the tips. I am just going to play the basic game for a while first. It would be cool to see somebody do a Top 5 list or something like that possibly.
