Does anyone in Australia have the game yet?

I think I'm one of the few Aussies who have it so far?
I downloaded it on a 56k line, so you should be able to get there eventually? The weapons.md_ file is the one that will kill you. When you get up to that you may be best off starting it late at night and leaving it running to avoid any phone pickups or peak hour net traffic.

I have it, and I downloaded it on 56k as well.

My suggestion is to just download the program files, and forget the multimedia, because you're not missing anything by not having it (music is pretty meh, videos are a complete waste of time and you're better off without them).

Have to have some games against you sometime Mythor and Von... Get some good ol' across the ditch competion happening! Rugby, Cricket, Netball... Why not... GALCIV!
I also downloaded it on 56k. Took a good couple of nights worth... You might want to try downloading the Base 84Mb Von, then rather than risk downloading the Multimedia with SDC, download the full zipfile with multimedia included. It takes time but you can resume without worrying about any inherent SDC problems that might cause you to have to restart that 300Mb download.

Or, if you have a download manager that allows resuming, get the one big file install you can download. It takes quite a long time, but you'll get there.

Any chance of twisting an arm for a CD to be burnt?
More than happy to cover the cost of the postage and CD, as well as provide RL details etc.
Realistically, downloading no matter how easy would take me weeks, as I can not leave my line tied up over night (so its about 2-3max around midnight). Also, downloading it from work (which would be lovely) is just a no-no, moreso considering the current enviroment.

I wouldn't mind sending it anywhere within Australia.... but I don't have a new burner yet. Might be getting one next week, though.

Just a couple of comments to all aussies in this board:

1. Should we create an "Aussie" Empire? It will be very interesting to see who joins us and how well we do against those "yanks"

2. Hmmm...I should have downloaded it on my 56K as well. Darn...I spent $115 on the game from ebgames.com. Oh well.

3. Isn't illegal if we burnt the game and give it to others? (I'm a newbie to computers so please do not get offended by this question. I'm just an old naive man

BTW, I just noticed that in order to submit your score to the metaverse you must provide a serial number. If you guys get copies from other aussies would this mean you can't submit scores because the serial number is already taken?? Can anyone confirm this?

On point 3, I've asked Frogboy about whether the serial number is attached to the archive you create in Stardock Central, but I still haven't heard back from him. If I had another PC here, I'd test it myself. But I don't. So we have to wait for him to respond.

Well, here's homing Mythor goes and gets himself a burner this week (go on, right now, can you not see the faces of the starving masses against your window)

I believe there was a post prior to release that talked about how the archive made a burnable CD copy without the serial code attached. The question was raised on someone asking if it was attached to wit I believe the answer was no.

Also, I have heard a rumour from one of the game shops in Melbourne that it might be in shops at the end of April (Bah.. I want it for my 33th birthday before than!)

Save me from playing UO someone!

I do very much need one, not just for this, so it should be happening.
Stardock chargrilling my C: drive has convinced me I really should be a bit more backup concious.

I've looked around for an answer on whether or not the serial number is attached to the archive and have been unable to find anything either way, other than Frogboy responding that he'd look into it. If someone can find a post with more information, paste the URL please.

About creating an Aussie empire, I considered it when I set my empire up, but the Australian flag looks quite bizarre shrunk down into 32x32 pixels.
If people want to though, I believe Empire details can be edited? So if someone has a suitably Aussie icon, I'm up for it!
