Two embarassing newbie questions..

Ok, I have the downloaded version of the game on my laptop with no printer, so reading the manual with my bad eyes is a difficult thing.. which I only mention in case it pursuades someone to have mercy and cut me some slack..

Embarassing question #1: How do you get ships to stack? I put them together but they just come apart again.. :notsure:

Embarassing question #2: Can starbases only be built on those resources? Seems like you oughtta be able to build them to give you more range, to reach a distant planet, for instance, but I can't get one to plant except on a resource.. :(

starbases can be built almost anywhere. there is a button at bottom when you select a constructor that looks like a box with a green arrow pointing down. that drops the starbase. there is a pic of it on my site if you can't find it.

#1 Put them in the same square. Then look to the far right middle where you see a little grid with all the ships. There's a green diamond to the right. Click it. Now they are grouped. click the yellow one to ungroup.

#2 They can be built anywhere but on a star or anomoly (til its been explored). So yes, they are great to build at home too, specially with those production and trade modules. To get it to plant, look in the little window in the lower right of the main screen. You'll see a little red X and above it a white box shaped icon, click the white box icon and it'll create a starbase wherever the constructor is.
