Need some help, couldn't find answers with the search function.

Hey all,

Ok, I'm having a problem with a custom map. I made a custom, loaded it along with a scenario without issue. However, one turn 1 my research times on all techs say '1000'. Additionally, I have zero income or spending, no sliders work.

The instant I finish turn number one, I'm shown the defeat screen. I tried the campaign mode and had no troubles so I can only assume it's related to my custom map. However, all races have assigned start points, and I can't find anything in the map that should cause this.

The most confusing part, is that the map played fine when I ran it earlier. Now even my savegame for that particular map kills me after a turn.

What gives?

Sounds like you don't have a homeworld in your custom map.  Did you set one on the map? If you didn't, it should pick one for you from the remaining uninhabited planets, but if there were no stars with planets left, it may have had problems.  Also, if your planet quality of your homeworld wasn't at least 15, you might have had problems that way.

Double checked and all the races have assigned homeworlds. All of which are 15 or higher. Is there a maximum number of stars or planets the editor supports? Perhaps I placed too many? Thanks for your help so far Carielf, maybe we can figure this out.

Out of desperation (and after trying everything I could possibly think of) I unassigned all the races starting points and saved the map. The game randomly places everyone now, but it seems to have corrected the problem I was having. I can't say I'm thrilled at the positioning issues this creates, but at least it works. Sorta.

That does not sound right. Maybe we need a patch to correct this error? I will be creating a MAP soon for a planned scenario I sure hope this is not a regular problem? (:(

Xnemth: if you have a version where the homeworlds are assigned, you can e-mail it to me and I'll check it out.
