Do you guys have any use of a GC2 List from Apolyton?

For Civ3, Apolyton people tried to help by making a huge List. The same is presently done for CiV (Civ4). Some simpler version could maybe be done for GC2.

Would there be a point for a more general and shorter wish-list, or something like that? I am not too sure to which extent it would really be useful, but I'm not making the game. For details, there may be already alot in the Civ List 2 ;)

One possibility I see: we could hilight good sections of the CiV List pertinent to GC2 and add the most general/pertinent material. Potentially simple, fast and efficient.

I am not too sure that Apolyton's GC community is large enough, but for something simple you don't need many people.

So, is it worth trying and should I give it a try in Poly's forums, or are your plans less flexible already? Have propositions?

Perhaps you don't know about the Civ3 List? For a game like Civilization, there is a fanbase strong enough to produce a document centralizing all ideas in one single place in an organized way instead of having them spread out in forums. So I wondered if some kind of "List" could be useful to GalCiv2 also, perhaps in some kind of more compact and simple version. It may useful to refine ideas or find new ideas, or to know what fans have in mind for example; but if anyway you have your own project in mind and prefer to stick with the beta testing process and GalCiv forums, up to you.

Personally I think that the wish list for Galciv 2 would serve everyone better residing here at Stardock's website.

Though you make a good point.. Firaxis does not listen to the fan base much though. Stardock does listen and the wishlist makes more sense with a company that actually listens to the fans. :D

Probably it would serve better if the list was here, but I was thinking more about something simple and pretty general. Also, it would ask someone that wishes to put his time into this and, personally, I put mine elsewhere: in my opinion, such a project is to be done only if it has enough people willing to participate AND a team that will use this.

Now I don't know if either of these conditions are filled, but I don't expect so many people that a very precise 200 pages document would come out, and I still don't know if the designers are the kind that would see a use to this more than to a simple forum/beta team.

Don't forget that the development for GalCiv 2 has already begun.

No I agree with you it would always help having fans to add in their opinions. I think at my own website I have a galciv 2 wish list.. Peace Phoenix said it for me.. ;)

Yes well... these are only fans opinions. The one that know wether they already have a clear line for their game or not are the developers. From one team to another, it may change.

And I do not believe that a X pages wish-list would be what I have in mind. Wish-lists do not necessarily bring new ideas that fit with the developers' objectives. Or they are a bit like asking someone if he would like having money, fame, love... Of course he would put EVERYTHING on his list ;) Beta testers discussions would perhaps bring material more oriented within the line of the game. OR: a general document establishing a whole community's priorities, general ideas fitting with the line of thought, something organized.

Anyway, on my side, if this gets a favorable answer from developers I may look into it, but otherwise the chances of it being efficient may be too low to bother.

I think that it would be best if people continued posting in the Gal Civ 2 concept sticky thread.
