Metaverse Abuse bug

Discovered this by accident.

Say your about to win a cultural victory. You want to get more Pop and Tech to get a higher score, but your set to win in a few turns. So you save, reload, and the PC takes 2 turns to recalulate your Influence, you can then research more, increase your pop, and then save, rinse, repeat etc.

The only way i can see to stop this is make Loading games longer, by allowing the CPU to calculate the scores straight away.

Not sure how the scoring is weighed, but while you're increasing population and tech you're taking longer to win... and losing some points that way.

Not sure how it balances out though. Hopefully more details on scoring will be forthcoming.

You do get a higher score if you do this, Daveman.
You can test it yourself. Set the "autosave" to save every turn when you're in the final months of a Cultural Victory and after you win, submit your score. Then load the save game again, follow through to your inevitable victory once more (about 14 months after you load the game) and your score will have increased.

There definitely needs to be a "fix" to the cultural influence calculations so it will pick up from where the influence left off when you saved it. :notsure:

Maybe it's possible to add a code to every 'game' so that if you send multiple saves of the same game, only the first one sent will be counted?

it already does that I believe Frank. What Mythor is pointing out is that you never let the game actually end, because each time you save and reload, you push the end back a couple months giving you a chance to earn more points.

I found this out accidentally when the game crashed trying to submit my cultural victory and when I went back in I wound up with a military victory and 60 more points (130 to 190)

Yup that was what i meant, where Valamir gained a 30% increase in score, this could be a bit unfair when your score is alraedy 5000 or something.

It used to be that you could submit scores from the same game over and over and only the highest score would count. I believe this has been changed, though I haven't tested it myself.
The cultural victory countdown has also, apparently, been fixed in the latest update. Going to try a game tomorrow and see how it goes. :)

Seems to have been sorted :), although culture and influence still takes a few turns to calculate, the mth countdown works from the second you re load :)
