How Do I tell people about an empire

The thing is that IF and WHEN players are looking into empires then they'll go looking for them.. Rather them having empire related junk tossed at them from every direction when they arn't really intrerested.. ie: empire spam

As it is now unclear as to How empires can make them selves known in the main forum (IE: here) through http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=132018#188187 a sticky message just for the purpose to introduce players to empires

You can post a spiel about your empire on this http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=132018#188187 that is IF and only IF no one has already done so.. So be sure to read the thread before posting
Just one little question J.T.Qwerk: how would you tell to people in your empire, that don't think about going to the empire forum and that don't read the sticky thread, to contact you in your empire thread?

Then it was agreed that when you answer a question in the main forum (with more than a yeah.. or a link to someones elses answer.. In other words If YOU Solve a problem or provide help to solve the problem) then you are entitrled to have a ONE LINE Advertasement / link to your empires site or threads..

For example:

The StarFleet Empire http://www.galciv.com/metaverse/empires.asp?id=707 is only to glad to help others.. we can be contacted through http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GE&id=132371 in the empires forum http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GE

I surely miss something, but it seems to me that the answer you give is about how to promote one's empire in the general forum, not about finding lost members (which was the concern behind my question).

Lost members will also be able to find your empire threads through these messages.... unless they don't want to... which is their right... its up to the players to keep intouch with their empires .. empires can post links etc.. but if the players don't follow them for what ever reason (there are a lot of people who play the game.. evern lots who join empires... and NEVER read the forums...)

ALL MESSAGES RELATING TO MEMBERS IN EMPIRES SHOULD BE POSTED IN THE EMPIRES FORUM...

if people don't read the forums then they arn't interested.. and you shouldn't jam it down their throats as it simply annoys others who are doing the right thing..

If you want to keep in touch with your members ask them for an email address when they join up... or any method that you can think of.. just keep Empire related messages out of the main forum...

If your looking for missing membvers then try posting a message to them directly in the forums.. this way it can't be constrewerd as being empire related.. if you word the subject line correctly.. eg: please reespond

also remember that the propper place to post these messages are in the empire forum.. if you post it in there and don't get a responce then and its urgent that you need to contact them then you could post a message (short and direct.. to that person) to look at your link to the message in the empires forum...

I didn't set these rules.. I'm just trying to obey them and help others do the same...

Truth be known.. I was against them from the start.. I don't like censorship and never thought that they would work.. however to my suprise on a whole they have beedn working.. with little prodding and explaining.. So i'm trying to keep things equeal... It can be detrimental to other empires if some flaunt the rules... Its either ALL or NONE.... Otherwise it doesn't work...

I hope this explains things better... I know that there will always be those against any rules... but Don't shoot the messanger trying to inforce them... and make them work... If you don't like it then try to change them.. through A REFERENDUM in the Empires Forum...

Noted. The only trick is to have them contact you at first :) . It is one of the reason behind the diplomat's Embassy: being able to send e-mail to members.

I don't want to shoot at the messenger. I just wanted to be sure that everyone understand how to proceed in the case of lost members. Basically, if you haven't their e-mail and if they don't read empire forum, you can't do anything.

Unfortunatly that is correct... as Stardock hasn't seen fit to give the epires emperors access to their members email addresses..

If they don't read the forums it doesn't matter how much you post it will not get youi in contact with missing members

One option is to make your empire a closed empire and ask people who vwish to join to send you an email.. that way you have a contact email address

Only too glad to be able to help

This is called privacy, I am sure that many people like their privacy and would not want stardock or any other company to give out this type of information without their ok.

If someone wants to contact you they can do it through the forums.

If they do not answer a general call or contact you they either may not participate in the forums or have no desire to participate more in the empire that they are a member of.

What rules? I have never seen these rules posted. There are no sticky notes about these rules that I am aware of. :notsure:

IMHO & with all due respect,

It has been my experience that rules were made for people who can't think for themselves.

arghhhhhh..... there was a lot of talk... there are no official written rules.. what i've stated were decided apon when the empires forum got started... They were to make it fair for all... there was a lot of debate about them at the time.. and by general concensus it was agreed upon not to allow dedicated empire talk in the general forum.. as thats why the empires forum was set up to handle.. If empires didn't abide by the general concensus it w3ould mean that the empires forum would not be needed as everyone would simply adveretise and recruite and generaly stay in the main general Galciv forum..

Basicly what I've stated encapsulates most of the general plan..

The sticky doesn't state the rules.. it states what empires are all about.. and thats the message where we are asked to limit empire related posts to one reply in that thread... (link to that message is in my first post)

This message wasn't ment to stir up the debate again.. it was mearly to reply to a message in another thread that I stated that I would no longer post in as it breaches the general agreement

As i've said if people don't like it .. then feel free to start up a message in the empires forum to discuss what should be put in place and or modified.. This isn't the place to do it.. I'm mearly pointing out what exists at the moment.. (or am I the only one holding true to the agreement)

I'll try to dig up the original threads which discussed all of these guide lines for use of the forums if necessary..

I didn't make them... I'm just trying to make sure that they are adheared to..
