Well, let's assume that you aren't someone that try to use Galciv without having paid it.

Too bad that you haven't register a metaverse player with you serial number. You would have a way to recover it.

Since having an unique serial number is a requirement to be able to play in the metaverse or get the latest patch, I doubt that anyone will lend one.

And since you haven't provide any e-mail, how do you expect someone to lend you one?

BTW, have you already installed GalCiv? Because I think that the serial number used for the install can be found in the registery

Well, it it necessary for installing GalCiv, but it has other uses.

Sounds like to me someone trying to play for free not someone who lost their serial number. Nice try..

Stardock has one of the best protection schemes going I think. Galciv is the only game that is not floating around being pirated like crazy.

Gaius, if you actually are just having trouble with the CD key/Serial number, please try the following:

1) turn on caps lock

2) The font for the serial #s can sometimes be misleading. Try switching zeros and Os and 1s and Ls and things like that.

3) Are you using a french version of Gal Civ? A lot of those went out with two different versions of the serial numbers, one without dashes, which was incorrect. 

If you still have problems, e-mail [email protected] your serial number and ask for help.

Sorry Gaius, I had problems myself when I first started. I just assumed you were trying to play for free. I broke my golden rule never assume anything.

Gaius, I think that we all want to know what was the problem if you finally manage to correctly use your serial ID.

Good Point.... I will remember that one.. I jumped the gun a little because I have seen many people try to pirate Galciv. At the old website I was tied in with I had them regularly stop in and plead for help getting their COPY working.

I tend to get a little out of line with pirating. I watched it kill the Atari computer line.. One of the best computers that was ever made in my eyes.

Well, asking for a serial is kind of misleading, particularly here on the forums or in a chatroom as opposed to e-mailing support.

 

Desert Fox pirating did not kill the Atari puter line, Atari's kamakazi Marketing approach did

(I.E....lets sell and support something for 6 months then drop total support and support a new thing for 6 months)

Games_Master, Good point! However I worked with many companies in those days hardware and software. I know for a fact that about 50+ game DEVS dropped the Atari due to pirating.

Merketing did not help things either you are correct there.

The Atari, commodore and Amiga computers were all victims of pirating. The only reason the PC's today do not have the same issue is the shear volume of them out there.

Hello again! I can't reply right away cuz of going to school and all. I've got a question (no more serial numbers) though? Do I need to have GalCiv installed here cause my computer back home doesn't have an Internet. All I really want is the Expansion Pack thingy. If this computer doesn't have GalCiv I can't download right? It keeps telling me invalid number can't update??? I'm really new to this download expansion pack, The Zeus game ex pack setup was much simpler to DL cause they don't ask for SN.Sorry for asking the wrong information. Just started playing last night! Great Game! Um "Desert Fox" what I was asking for was really the EX Pack and not the Serial, I can't really play for free with just an Ex Pack. But thanks for the replies all together.

Gaius so fare I know you must have installed both, Galciv and Altarian Prophecy to run the Altarian Prophecy expansion.

If you can't install Gal Civ on the computer that you access the internet, you can get the standalone patch with just the serial number from the downloads section at this site.  It's not the latest version, but it has the free 1.10 expansion pack in it and updates up to 1.20.  The non-free Altarian Prophecy does not yet have a standalone update for it.
