I was patrolling the Metaverse and came upon y’all’s (I’m from Texas, so I type with a drawl) player entries. I was drawn to the many Military Conquest win conditions that y’all attained. I have only been playing for about 6 months but I haven’t seen any posts from you guys so I was wondering if you would like to swap some war stories and/or tips. I learned early in life that you could either be a student of history or the next chapter’s victim. If given the choice, I would choose the former. I would never ask of someone else that which I myself could not deliver. With that in mind here is the tale of my last game:
My last game #66 was a 4 day 12-15 hour bloodbath. The Drengin were intolerable (with their demands) so I just said to hell with regular diplomacy lets try "gunboat diplomacy". I was two turns from wiping out their last 3 planets when the Altarians went belly-up (as in yellow belly-up) and surrendered their 3 planets to the Drengins (on the opposite corner of the galaxy). I gave the Drengins death by 10,000 cuts while they (the Drengin) and the Arcean's decided to tag-team my military and trade. I had to use extreme measures (sync'ed freighters and mid-turn military re-calcs) to keep my empire intact. I could have made it easier on myself by using diplomacy but I am drawn to giving the AI's there come-uppance vis-a-vis the military. This was not my toughest game, but one of the toughest in memory.
SpacePundit, I noticed you’re in Texas. If you (or anyone) would like to swap or hear any Texas Ranger stories (the early lawmen, not the baseball team), let me know.
I have found that the Forums are like most things. You get out what you put in.
