Is the AI meant to resign if its about to die

from Stardock Forums
im *sure* i saw this mentioned as a feature, never seems to happen on my game. Getting very boring having to scour the galaxy for 40 minutes taking over the odd planet, and making the troops, especially as i have about 50 planets at this stage. I seem to end up having to go for a culture victory to allieve this.

You know, I haven't seen it resign often enough either. I've seen it resign quite a few times, but not when it seems like we're nearing the endgame.

I've never had an AI resign to *me*, but I have seen the AI resign. Happens about once per game in my experience.

Hmm lucky you ash :)

I would prefer all the small civs im killing to resign to my biggest enemy and creat a nice end battle, but i have played over 10 games so far and never even seen that.

Anything to do with difficulty level? Im playing sub normal the last 3 days as i test out things

Maybe, I haven't played Sub-Normal for a couple days now, so I can't recall exactly what happened in those games. It does resign on Bright/Intelligent though. :)

I've only seen this once, and not even to me. Maybe the tech lease problem is affecting this somehow, and surrendering logic will get fixed automagically after correcting that, maybe not. I agree that it should be more common though, mopping up can get tedious enough to convince me to switch to cultural victory mode after conquering most of the galaxy.

In one game, I The Arceans who were *not* at war with anyone, surrendered to the Drengin after I'd conquered a minor race one sector away and built up a large force. It made sense, since that force was going to take out the Arceans (they had one system, and I'd just done the same to the Yor).

In the next game, the Torians surrendered to the Drengin after I'd taken half of their planets and then extorted piles of cash out of them and their allies (Altairians and Arceans) for declaring war on me.

The Drengin and Yor were making noises at each other, and the Yor came to me several times to convince me to go to war with the Drengin, 'cause the Drengin were neutral, and the Yor and I were evil. ANYway, when the Yor became the most powerful empire, the Yor surrendered to me.

There seems to be a certain logic to how it works out.

I dunno; the AI in this game seems pretty flakey and illogical. I mean, I just read in the AVault review that it even CHEATS. >:(

haha Ash, i just read though that Avault posting..ouch hehe, when i get back from work i think i might a comment or too of my own.

Anyways..just won a game on Normal level..and the AI actually resigned..i wish it would do this at lower levels..then again i think ill only play normal upwards now for the challenge.

Out of all 4 games I've played (not much time) only had surrender once, all games on sub-normal/beginner and surrendered to different race.

Asharak, sure the AI cheats. I was talking to the AI the other day, and it was swearing a mile-wide streak about your abuse of leasing. The AI's a punk.
