trade goods question

Trade goods cost typically about 200 bc to develop. But when I offer to pay another civ for the "licence" they demand about 1000 bc for just 1 month, which seems ridiculous. No business for them. It seems to be the same pattern for all civs and goods. Has anyone succeeded in licensing a trade good at a reasonable price?

Its quite normal they ask high prices since they have a monopoly, iow you cant make it.

It's called profit, man. They have exclusive rights. I charge the same.

Keep in mind that that 1000 bc isn't to use it for one month, it's for indefinite use.

You are saying it's a one time fee? Does every player with the license get the bonus/benefit? Can it be licensed to every player?
