minor races stole tech in exchange for my planets?

this is the second time I get this event, where a race I'm spending lots on espionage/destabilize, I happen to steal techs with the help of a minor race. the minor race ends up with all the tech, and the event message hints that the minor race is interested in systems.

the first time I got the minor race to trade.. this time they don't want too

what exactly do i have to do in this event?

When this message appears, it is because a minor race has stolen the tech's of another major race (not you). They are interested in trading these techs with you for star systems.

This does not mean that they will ONLY accept star systems. In the past, I've been able to trade tech for tech to gain all the missing tech's. Of course I've also been behind before in the tech race and have been only able to trade for a couple. I would NEVER give a minor race star systems for tech's unless I had a good strike force able to reclaim the system quickly.

Hmmmm, that is something I'll have to try. I know that when a system is "flipped" due to cultural influence, the systems orbiting ships are automatically put out of orbit instead of flipping with the system. I wonder if the same is true here.

If so, you could have a system with a bunch of combat transports "given" to the minor for the tech's, and then invade the same system in the very same turn. In fact if you plan it out, it won't make a difference.

Simply launch as many transports as you have from that system (pick one that has lots of transports), trade the system for the tech's, and then take the system back by force. Of course this will put you at war with that minor race and you should be prepared for that. I've never tried it myself, but it sounds like this will work

not sure if that would work, worth a shot though :)

i was thinking also of just offering a pq 13 or so planet that got upgraded, that's near or within (even better) my borders, and then get it to rebel

End of quote

I have done it successfully sometimes: giving a star that will flip back. But be sure that the final (not base, but after some improvements and with eventual AI PQ bonus) PQ is greater or equal to 15 if you don't want to see the AI destroying it.

I use the give'em a planet for stolen tech's and immediately invade all of the time. If you can't get all of the techs for the planet save let them keep the best one. Providing it is there only tech left you will get it when you invade anyway.
