Distribution in Canada

Good Day. I live near Ottawa, Canada's capital. I just downloaded this game a week ago. I'm a huge fan of these kind of games. Just to press my point, here's a little story:

When master of Orion 2 first came out, I bought it, brought it home and instaled it on my PC. I then sat down and played non-stop for 20 hours with no break, no smokes (and I usualy smoke every 2 hours), no food or drinks and no bathroom break.

So the other day I'm surfing Game FAQS in the "G" section when I spot the game. Learning more about the game was easy but I was surprised that this game had been out since last year. Usually these kind of games fall under my radar so I was perplexed.

So far I love the game and will download the expansion soon. I do have a question for the developers though: Do you advertise at all in Canada?

There are quite a few Canadians that own and play the game. There is in fact an Empire of Canadians - the CSF. To visit, click on the Empires button on the left and visit their forum thread.

I'm also a Canadian ; although I'm not in one of the "Canadian" empires.

And yeah, they sell the game in game stores in Canada too, I'm from Winnipeg, Manitoba and I bought my copy of Galciv at a best-buy; and then had to get Altarian Prophesy directly form this site since they sell AP from this site only atm and they cant get a retail version out yet. :)

I buy all my Stardock products from the internet; subscribe to both the Totalgaming.net and Objectdesktop.

I do agree if news distribution was done better in Canada there would be many more Canadian players.

I heard of Stardock when I was an OS/2 fanatic and Stardock was one of the few OS/2 vendors but if it was not for OS/2 it may of taken me along time to find GC and programs like Windowblinds.

I don't know, I heard about this game at gamespot when it came out. I was interested so I walked into Electronics Boutique and bought it off the shelf, right here in Ottawa.

It's possible it's no longer on the shelf. EB does not stock older games very well anymore.

Technician, quick question! What is your opinion of Object Desktop and Window Blinds? I tried the free versions and they were rather buggy.

Galciv is on the shelves at all of the game stores here in Las Vegas. :p

Windowblinds is really an excellent program.

The first version I used was 1.1 the skins were limited the program was really buggy and it had a huge impact on the system resources.

The current version 4.4 has little to no impact on system resources, much more is skined and no bugs are to be found.

The only thing that might come through as buggy are the skins themselves.

For this reason I like to download on new or updated skins they are often designed for 4.4 windowblinds and pay close attentension to the skins ratings and comments.

Windowblinds is staying on my computer.

The other components I run are Windowfx which is also a great program though it is very hardware dependant. You need Windows XP and a excellent video system to use the program to is full potentional.

I use Icon packager can not go wrong with this program which replaces the default windows icons.

Then there is desktopX the program Galciv 2 will be based on Iam new to this program but have found and used some great objects.

Finally I been trying Objectdock I paid for the Plus version, It can replace your star menu fro example the only problem is I am not sure I want to replace the Start menu.
