Manufacturing VS Production

Do these differ? I have noticed some techs/buildings/Modules offer +15% manufacturing, and some offer +15% production.

are these simply alternate names, or do they really differ in function?

I'm pretty sure they are alternate names for the same thing. I think that's clarified in an earlier thread.

And while we're at it, what is the difference between increasing "Economy", manufacturing and production. I am baffled.

I thought economy->money, manufacturing->ships/military, production->social upgrades, but I could be wrong. I'm not exactly sure what mining does. Influence all 3?

economy->money

manufacturing and production do the same thing (affect both military & social building capacity, unless specifically listed as `military` or `social` production, like on your civ stats screen).

mining can affect lots of different things, depends what you mine!

note that if you have a large manufacturing capacity, you also need a good ecomony to afford to use it!

> mining can affect lots of different things, depends what you mine!

really? I totally did not get this before. I thought it would have to do something with getting economic or production bonuses (somewhat like real mining.) I guess this means that you can "mine" abstract things like research bonuses. How very strange. And does this mean that if the base is not parked on a resource, all of the mining modules are useless?

One other question, is there a difference between prestige and influence?

If your star base is not built on a resource the mining upgrades can not be built.

The production upgrades improve the manufacturing (military and social) capabilities of all planets in the same sector.

Star prestige and influence, AFAICT, have the same results. The usage in sentences is what dictates the use of one word in preference of another. Increasing ones prestige, after all, does increase ones influence with others.

OK, what's the difference between morale and popularity?

Morale is how happy the people on a set planet like you, your popularity is overal how well your doing, it incorporates moral, but also how good your economy is, whether your winning or losing anywars your in, whether you have too many or to few warships etc.
