CD install problem

Hello all.

I bought GalCiv a while ago, but I haven't played it yet. I have a holiday tomorrow, so I thought that'd be a good time to try out the game.

Problem is, when I put the CD in the drive and the install splash-screen pops up, nothing happens when I click on install (and the screen freezes, giving me a "not responding" prompt). I tried bypassing the splash-screen and installing the "setup" program on the CD, but, again, I get a "not responding" prompt (this time for my CD drive). Each time, I end up having to restart Windows. What could be the problem, and how do I fix it?

Thanks. :)

PS. I'm running WinXP Home (sp2) on a AMD 2500XP, 512 MB RAM, 80 gig HD.

If your CD does not work, you still maybe able to set up Galciv, if you hav good internet conection.

Go to the dowload tab on the side panel, download Stardock Central.

Enter your serial number in Stardock Central, register Galcin and you will be able to download and install Galciv 1.22

As Technician said, as long as you have a valid Galciv Serial Id, you are able to download the whole game from Stardock using Stardock Central.

OK. I'm downloading StardockCentral now. But, still, does anyone know why the CD won't work? That seems rather strange that I'd buy a CD, and then have to download the entire game anyway. Is it a hardware problem or a software problem?

Thanks for your help. :)

Hard to say, I never bought the retail CD.

I purchased Galciv from the web.

Defective CD ?

At least by downloading GC you get the latest version.

It could be that the CD is defective, or you could need to update your version of Flash, since that is what the autorun uses.
