Bucket of newbie questions

Hi

Loving the game so far, but starting to get desesperate as I walk from every game beaten or severely beaten as soon as possible. So I have a series of questions on possible strategies and situations I dont know about:

1) Its there any kind of morale penalty for wars? I go a lot into the vicious circle of low morale->less tax->less development->even less morale... maybe its because every single game starts with a big nasty alien civ quickly realizing I'm open to invasion and GNN giving bad news like "their military its at 300 and ours at 2" ?

2) Its there a significative change of strategy to be applied depending of the distributions of stars in the game? Cause I'm now playing Large & Scattered and I'm almost holding out with the other civs in terms of population and advance (on the lowest middle part of the rank, but still competitive), while on Large & Tight Clusters it was ALWAYS the fact that somebody got to be the superpower (and always were just at my border)

3) So far, I build everything everywhere in the same order, except my most productive planet, where I cluster the big bonuses (Capitals, Wonders, etc...) . Its that a flawed strategy? Could I save money in maintenance and dedicate it to building a fleet earlier by not building everything... reserving, say, manufacturing centers for planets that I know can put out a ship in fewers turns and leaving the others without that?

Thanks in advance

Yea the higher the PQ and moral REALLY makes a difference. Propaganda is useful for getting a planet to its pop level fast. Just remember to turn it back down.
