That absolutely how I learned!
The game has a learning curve and practice makes perfect!
Start at the lowest possible difficulty so you can become familiar with the Game Mechanics. Fool around with different spending settings and tech-paths.
This is one of those games that's "easy to learn, difficult to master"!

Use Control-N until you get a good starting position.

Go to the Orion Sector web site and download the unofficial strategy guide.

Ok, ill try playing on the lowest difficulty level untile i get the hang of it

also-does anyone find it slightly comical how many difficulty levels there are. sorry i just thought they were funny

one more thing-i see in the options there is a cheat code activaded option. im not a fan of cheating, but what is this all about.

There are a few cheats for the game, but I only know one of them. However, should you cheat, and submit your game to the metaverse, it will give you 0 points.

Welcome Aboard StoweMobile. It will take several games to get the hang of it. Start at the lowest level and play there until you are comfortable before moving up. It is a very complex game! But very fun. Using the Metaverse and joining an empire greatly adds to the sttraction and playability of the game.

Side note: I have only been playing for a couple of months myself and I have been been able to get a couple of cool medals myself. So relax, be patient, ask any question you have, and ENJOY THE GAME!!!

crap i have a problem. In stardock central when i try and download the update for the altarian prophecy it won't let me. I says i have an invalid registration, but in the registration panel it says my cd key is valid. ----
please help

The Altarian Prophecy needs a specific serial key, different of the one associated with standard Galciv.
The AP expansion needs to be purcharse directly or via the totalgaming.net subscription. There is a discount for Galciv owner

If you have purchased AP check the reg number in the window when you register. When I updated it changed my "00" number to "OO" leter. I changed it back and it worked fine.

Sounds like you may have given different information for email addresses. I had a problem like that myself I contacted CariElf and she helped me out. I seem to have lost her email address darn it. :notsure:
