More Newbie Questions...

Hi,
2 nu questions...

1. Is there an advantage, points wise, to being a good alignment?
2. How do I know which mods, if any, are safe to use if I intend to upload my games to the Metaverse?

Thx, :HOT:

1. You get the techs with good alignement. My favorite is "The Better Way"

Good AIs tend to like you and to help you.

2. Certified mods should not generate anomalous scores.

Well then surely there are other techs available for evil civs?
And aren't the other evil races more likely to be friendly? ;)

Yes, this is true also. There are techs for the evil folks unavailable to the good and, yes, the evil AI will respond to you better.

Alignment is one of the great things about GC.

I like playing good so I do not have to slug out wars with other races.

Playing evil has it's merits and many people enjoy playing evil.

You can take all the advantages in the events, get powerful ships not available to good guys, can go to weaker races demand tribute but you fight wars and may get the event where people in your empire revolt against your oppression.

Don't forget that evil AI:
- hate good people
- only respect strength (military AND economically)

So if you are weak and evil, having good or evil AI won't help you.
But if you are weak and good, the good AI won't attack you

Hi,
I have another question...

Lets say I have say two planets.
Both have the same PQ and population, Exactly the same...
and Morale and whatever else...

Now after adjusting my economy I am spending say 30% on military.
Now lets say that equates to exactly 100bc...

Now I tell both of them to build ships.
The one builds a scout and the other builds a constructor.
On turn one I assume they will each spend 50 bc building the ships...

Now lets say, because Planet A is building a scout it finishes quickly, say 1 turn.

My question is this...
What will Planet B spend next turn?
will it be 100?

It should be.
and then what happens when Planet b is finished?

what happens to that 100bc?
does it go off into limbo or does my economy automatically redistribute that to social and research? :HOT:

Planet B will spend 50% of your 100 BC. Planet A will spend 50% of your 100 BC even though it is building nothing.

This has long been a complaint about this game. Hopefully this issue will be resolved in GC2.

Spending doesn't stack to the next turn. unspend BC are lost. View it like if you paid people to do nothing

Yes that is what I thaught I was seeing...
Its very frustrating,

That is one thing in Moo3 that was done very well.
They introduced inneficiency.

If I had one planet with the capability to spend 100 bc on construction per turn but I chose to allocate 200 bc from the economics screen, then the planet would build faster but would lose a certain percentage to inneficiency...

I really hope they sort that out in GC2 (hint hint nudge nudge) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Well, don't forget that in Galciv you don't allocate directly money for production. You are just setting sliders for using the production capacity in your planets. And this translate to an amount in BC.

Which is different from MOO3 where, if I understand correctly, you are setting an amount to be used by all planets and let them to handle the splitting among them.

I would say that we have two philosophies here:
Moo3 : what could you do with such amount?
Galciv : I want you to use the production industry at x%. Tell how much money you need.

To go back to the first question. Beeing good or evil matters alot. If your a good civ the other good civs will help you, in war they send ships or even declare war on your enemy to assist you. However evil civs dont get along that well, if your weak and evil other evil (and good) civs will declare war on you. If your strong and evil a good civ might attack you, and its highly likely that the other evil civs will also declare war on you to get a part in the spoils.

Good civs cooperate, evil civs backstab.
