Bugs, probably

Hi all, didn´t know were to post this, so I guess I´ll just shout it into the galaxy :P.

I played through the game once now, galciv then, not the expansion, and there were a few things that I suspect aint how they´re supposed to.

One: Galactic Research Center sure sounds like a galactic wonder, but it appears it was buildable in every star system.

Two: Seing as all the other Omega´s were galactic archievements, how come the Omega defence system could be built everywhere?

Three: Well this one is not really to consider a bug I guess... but it´s just very ironic when I get the news that the Torians have found a remarkable precursor thingie that made all other planets in the Geta system 13 points better, and when I check there isn´t any other planets in that system :P. There where many examples were precursor thingies didn´t really do anything, and none where they mattered :SURPRISED: . Or... of course, there were those ships they found, but I never really fought so I don´t know if they mattered...

I´m not complaining or anything, I just thought the ones who develop the game might want information like this to make the game even better :).

The Omegas have gone bach and forth between being achievements and normal improvements. I think two of them are actually regular improvement right now.

Obviously, the PreCursor events are random (all the events are random), but I suspect they would require some extra code for them to be random and consistently logical.

Your example of the planet quality improvement event is a case in point. The event isn't coded to check for the existence of planets within a given range of the target sector. Thus, when the event happens, the game reports sector improvement even where there are no systems to improve in the eligible sectors.

Likewise, the PreCursor ship event can suddenly dump dozens of Corvettes into your military system (hope you've got enough money to pay the maintentance, I once got over a hundred of them), but will only (to my knowledge) give one Ranger at a time. It would be nice if the PreCursor ship you found was of slightly higher tech level than the most advanced civilization, but again, that would require extra coding time that I don't think Stardock is willing to expend for such a small part of the game.

Since the Omega/Galactic naming doesn't always match, for the reasons Arturus gave, I edit the Improvement files and change the project names. So, in my games I don't have Galactic Research Centers, only Research Centers. That way I don't fool myself into building a wonder that isn't really wonderful.

End transmission.

Ah well, I can live with it. Just thought that if I was developing this game I´d like to fix such things.

One thing that really bugs me a bit though is one thing that happened twice now. When I speak to a civ before getting the first contact window (clicking on the little speak to button on a planet on first sight) I somehow end up i war with no explanation at all, one even claimed I was the agressor. Sure it´s an easy one to talk out of... but it strains reltions :/. Is there a more direct place where I can report that as a bug?

Lifebringer: There are always more bugs and features that you can't fix or add. :)

I'll check out that last one.
