Installation Problems

Ok Having just had to wipe my computer and start again, and recently aquiring broadband I decided I would put Galciv back on, buy the Add on and dominate the galaxy once more. This plan has hit a snag in that I can't install GC. Everything else on the disk works and there is no apparent damage, but when I click on install or setup nothing happens except the window locks up and says "not responding" on the title bar.
Any Ideas?

For information the computer is:
AMD Athlon 2.8 Ghz
1Gb RAM
80Gb + 120 Gb HDD, plenty of free space.
GF59 something I forget.
Windows XP

Basically nothing has changed since I last ran GalCiv except I now have a DVD burner not a CD one.

Not sure, but I think I have read this problem before and I think to remember that the problem may lie in the codec drivers for the .bink file, or something like that. I am pretty sure that CariElf can help you with this.

BTW, have you read the first post in the sticky thread about sound problems/frequent crash problem? Since You got a new computer, a bad driver that come with the computer can explain this kind of behavior.

Since you have broadband, you surely can dowload the whole game with Stardock Central.

Must admit I didn't think to try that thread cause I assumed you'd need the game installed before those sort of probs, but I think installing the Bink tools sorted it out as it is now on and running. The drivers were the same as from before. Not a fully new computer just a new drive to replace the dead one. Did however pull all the lod stuff off including driver exe's. Anyway its now working. Cheers for the help.
