Alternate rules = crash?

Not sure if this is where i post this. But here goes.

I just started to play GC, and i wanted to try some alternate rules ( evil earth, altarian alliance, the one where earth stands alone sounds fun). But each time i try this and go into the menu the game crashes. I cant save or change settings.

Is there a fix for this? I did search saw nothing. Ill try another search here rewording it.

I do have updated game for GC and AP.

Oh and to clear things up, it hasnt crashed in the other 3 games ive played. Just when i try the alternate rules and go to menu. Hasnt crashed any other time and has run very smoothly.

I am impressed with the game play thus far. Just hope i can play these alternate rules- they look like fun.

Hmmm...I just checked to see if I could reproduce crash with latest version of AP and couldn't. My suggestion is to go to Stardock Central, click on "Free Stuff", and download "Smart Exception". Run Smart Exception before your run AP. If the game crashes again, SE will produce a report listing your system specs, OS, and drivers and the errors that occurred. Send the report to Stardock so they can figure exactly what's going on with your game. Normally, they would ask for a save game. Since you apparently can't save, this is not an option.
