Shipyard?

Dumb question but when you build a shipyard it says that it adds hitpoints to your ship. But when I build my ships at a shipyard and check the HPs it shows the exact same number of HPs as a ship buitlt at a non-shipyard base. Am I missing something? If the added hit points are hidden how can I tell them apart if I need the improved shipyard-built ships for an emergency?

I could never get a shipyard to do anything either. I compared the same type ships built before and after a planet had a shipyard and didn't see any difference.

I have the same problem.
The shipyard does not do a thing.
(expect requiring upkeep cost)

Ok I checked this. It works but not like I thought. I had ships, battle something, WITHOUT shipyard were 5ATT/6DEF/44HP, WITH shipyard were 5/7/44 so I gained one defense using a shipyard. I guess you have to get over the rounding down hump before you see results, with better ships it will probably be more noticeable.

Shipyards do work. You just have to have enough to work with to see any decent results. Remember, everything rounds down in GalCiv. So a +5% bonus will only work when you have a source of 20 whatever points for it to work on to begin with.

Ok, so what you are stating is that it increases attack/defense and NOT hitpoints.
