Production.

While I can now win 100% of the time at normal in Galciv regular, and about 70% the time on AP, They'res one thing that I still have trouble figuring out.

WHY DOES THE AI ALWAYS HAVE NEARLY DOUBLE MY PRODUCTION CAPACITY?!?!?!!!!??!?!?!!!11?1!?!one11?!!one??1!??

My planets on the production map are theses little tiny zits of production, while theirs are full on precancerous boils on the face of the galaxy. They always seem to build thier economic, manufacturing and political capitals before I do, and have many more starbases than me. Sure, I could build a lot of starbases, but if I do that early in the game, I'm not able to build a strong military, and the AI will come and take advantage of that. What is the AI doing that I am not doing?

What is the AI doing that I am not doing?
End of quote

What is your governement?

What is the total spending in BC of each AI compared to yours (in case they are using different spending)?

What is your overall spending? Have you problem maintaining 100% morale?

Moral is the key in this key. Don't forget that empire wide production bonus aren't free: they must be paid. So if you aren't at 100% spending, manufacturing bonus don't give any advantage: you can achive the same production with no empire manufacturing bonus but a higher spending.

And if you have morale bonus, you can set rate at an higher rate and increase the spending rate.

To be able to maintain a 100% morale (only needed until population has reached a certain level see http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GS&id=155077), you can:
- take political party that give morale bonus
- take picks with morale bonus
- take picks with PQ bonus (since morale is linked to planet size)
- build morale enhancement on planet (if they cost 3 or less)
- gather yellow ressources and enhance associated starbase
- use the propaganda slider (works well if the increase of tax rate give more BC than used for the propoganda)
- concentrate research on tech that give morale ressources
- Obtaining bonus associate with morale TG
- concentrate research on tech that increase pop growth
- Obtaining bonus associate with pop growth TG (since a higher pop growth mean a lower lin pop for a cap growth without 100% morale)

For increase the spending rate, you need:
- to have more income. This is linked essentially with taxes (so a good morale is important) and trade (having the AI making trade routes with you is very helpful). If possible, having the Galactic Stock Exchange helps
- to avoid spending too much in maintenance: don't build all improvements (especially if the cost is 4 or 5), limit your military cost by limiting your fleet, avoid colonizing too early sub PQ 15 planets
- to avoid rushbuying if the loans will be on lots of months

And don't forget that fleet maintenance is totalized in the military budget
